J & J Arts Initiative 2021–22
We are extremely excited to announce the first project from the J & J Arts Initiative 2021–22.
A generous donation directly supports 11 artists with grants to either create new work, or finish a major work in progress. In addition, the grant indirectly assists various additional artists and members of theatrical production team who were involved in production of the Breaking Down Walls performance, June 11, 2022 in San Francisco View more information here.
Funding also supports the making of a documentary about the Breaking Down Walls project, set to release for online streaming in 2023.

Artists and Projects Funded
- James Racioppi, master puppeteer, for production of “A Mid Summer’s Night Dream” based on the play, and with a sound track narrated by Richard Burton and members of the Old Vic Theatre
- The remastering of the documentary ”Piero Paolo Pasolini: A Filmmaker’s Life”
- Funding for post-production of Helen De Michel’s documentary film “Between the Sun and the Sidewalk”
- June 11, 2022 performance Breaking Down Walls at The Cowell Theatre
- The Metro Film and Arts Foundation is producing a documentary directed by filmmaker Derrick Scocchera. This short film will follow each Breaking Down Walls artist as they develop and create new works that will be showcased at the June 11 performance.
