Kim Shuck
Kim Shuck will lead a reading of commissioned work with three other Bay Area poets for the “Breaking Down Walls” event.
Kim is the seventh Poet Laureate Emerita of San Francisco, as well as a poetry organizer and educator. She was born in San Francisco, California, and is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. In 2019, Shuck was named an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow. She was recently awarded the 2022 COSTO Medal from University of California Riverside. She is author of eight books, sits on the editorial team for eight anthologies, and has work in a bookshelf’s worth of collections. Her latest poetry collection is Exile Heart from That Painted Horse Press.
